OMEGA is a well-known luxury watchmaker across the watch enthusiasts all over the world. It has been manufacturing many award-winning luxury watches for years, Innovation is in the DNA of the brand. Speedmaster ’57 collection was introduced to salute the original timepiece from 1957. It contains many variations and also the 60th-anniversary edition (limited).

It was designed to enhance the collection of Speedmaster and make it as a commemoration of the long-lasting struggle of the brand in making a perfect timepiece for all. This edition is also known to be a choice of 3times Golden globe award-winner George Clooney, A famous actor, film director, producer, and activist.

Original 1957 edition

In 1957, Speedmaster was first introduced in 1957, when OMEGA introduced its famous trilogy of three legendary watches including Seamaster 300, Railmaster, and the Speedmaster. It was the first in this series and was the first chronograph with tachymeter scale embedded on the bezel. Unique hands design makes this watch to be called,” Broad Arrow”. It was powered by the Caliber 321, the first one ever used in this line of unique chronographs of OMEGA. For more than a decade column-wheel movement offered by this caliber remained an essential part of Speedmaster. Luminous Radium was used on the black dial to enhance legibility. Glass of this timepiece was designed with material HESALITE.

This model was also used in many sky-operations by the Air force of Peruvian (FAP) for use in flight. It was the featured pack by the brand.

THE SPEEDMASTER ’57

An innovative timepiece of the Speedmaster series inspired by the 1957 edition, it was created to pay tribute to its ancestor and also to be famous in its very own class. The new version reinvented elegance by adding more refining touch to the “Broad Arrow” hands and matured black dial. Numeric is beautifully engraved on the Tachymeter scale on the bezel, this timepiece is designed by the creative-mind designers and the concept of rich heritage within manufacturing.

Movement

The ’57 models feature OMEGA calibers 9300 and Calibre 9301 both equipped with silicon springs. To ensure precision, the Co-Axial Calibre is manufactured exclusively by the company and is passed through different tests. It also features a power reserve of up to 4 days and has a Rhodium Plated finish. The mechanism is visible, due to the transparent sapphire crystal on the dial’s back.

Dial

This timepiece features two sub-dials instead of three with a date embed within the dial. The first sub-dial is placed at a 3-o clock featuring 12 hours and 16-minute indication to increase the legibility of the chronograph and give it a more innovative look. Also available in black, white, and blue colors.

The second-sub dial placed at 9 o’clock features the second indicator. The boundary of the dial is covered with the tachymeter, another functionality related to the Speedmaster series.

Metal

The main factor of every wrist watch is the material, better the material makes it more durable. 41.mm cases are available in the number of choices including gold editions available both in red and yellow 18k gold, also available in lightweight titanium editions. Mix versions of gold and steel are also available. Edges of metals are more-refined in this time-piece and have an eye-catching finish. Luminescent material is also used within the dial to increase the legibility and make it more visible to be read in the dark.

Super-Luminosa is coated over the hands of the main dial and also on the subdials. Super-lumiNova emits green light that is readable in the dark.

Straps

Different matching bracelets and stylish straps are available for every model. Straps are available in leather, steel, and also in polyester. Flat lugs extending from the case of the timepiece gives it iconic touch.

This collection contains many other variations. RORY MCILROY special edition is also the part of Speedmaster 57 dedicated to the famous golfer Rory Mcllroy.
